Azienda agricola Paolo Zanello
The Azienda Agricola Paolo Zanello is in Rosignano Monferrato, Alessandria, right in the heart of Monferrato, a territory whose importance as wine cultural landscape has been recognized and awarded as a World Heritage Site by the Unesco Committee in 2014.
The Zanello family has owned the whole facility since 1900, for 5 generations now, and has recently renovated it according to the principles of architectural conservation, using only original materials from the area.
The main house, a big part of which has now been refurbished to accommodate guests in units equipped with every comfort, the charming historical cellar with its brick vaults, the traditional Infernòt and the tasting room, all fully represent the tradition and the long history of the place.
Always devoted to winemaking, an activity which has been awarded with the Silver Medal by Asti Chamber of Labour in 1898, the company has diversified its activities over the years and has become popular for breeding the Piedmontese cattle breed as well.
Nowadays the property is 40 hectares, 4,5 of which are vineyards, while the remaining part is divided in crops, orchard, an hazelnut grove and a small olive grove.
Paolo Zanello also wanted to revive another old family tradition: the production of cured meats. He has built a small lab for such production and has started wild breeding of pigs and courtyard animals.
